“The trees are about to show us how lovely it is to let things go.” —- Alicia Keys
Encapsulation is a series that explores the relationship between memories and time.
Photos that represent significant personal memories of the artist were printed on fallen leaves.

These memories are extremely intimate and unforgettable past experiences that become parts of the artist’s identity. However, it also entangled the artist from making changes and moving onward.

As German novelist and poet Hermann Hesse once said, "Some of us think holding on makes us strong; but sometimes it is letting go." The creation process focuses on acknowledging the past and learning the beauty of letting the past become the past. Through symbolic subject matter, artists gain insights from the natural surroundings and gain courage in moving forward.

Amy Ai is a Canadian-based artist born in Mississauga. She is currently in her first year
of study at the Rhode Island School of Design. Amy’s personal experience of moving from one
country to another since childhood had made her always fascinated in exploring the topic
between memories and relationships among family and friends. Her work experiments with
various mediums to achieve the message she aims to convey. To Amy, her artistic practice is an
ongoing quest that allows her to explore the boundary of art and how the process of art-making
can influence her way of thinking. Amy had participated in many art exhibitions and
competitions during her four years of high school at Etobicoke School of the Arts, and there is
more to attend during her post-secondary education in the United States. https://portfolioday.info/user/amy-ai/
